I'm well aware of the cliche I am right now
Scroll a little further down this blog and you'll see the last time I managed to post was 6 January 2022. The topic was how I was taking an abundance mindset into the new year and re-reading the post today I can safely say my planned mindset shift had, let's say, mixed results.
I created a startup online business, adjusted to a life away from a world that had been part of my life ever since I remember and, then just over a month ago, had another big shift when I started a brand new job in a brand new field. Some would say it's been a transformative year career-wise but there were so many personal goals that just didn't get ticked off.
So here we are almost a full 12 months later and I'm hoping 2023 will be the year those personal changes kick in. As the title of this post suggests, I'm well aware of the cliche of posting to a personal blog on New Year's Eve about all of my hopes and dreams for the coming 12 months but my real motivation is if I write it down in a public forum, maybe I'll be more likely to hold myself accountable. I said maybe!
So just what are these hopes and dreams? Get ready for another cliche! My goal is to get my health and fitness back in check - and lose 20kg! Ambitious some would say but I got on the scales this morning and saw a number that is higher than anything I had seen before. I can't say I was shocked per se given the lack of exercise, the onset of perimenopause and the sheer amount of food I've consumed since being back in an office full-time, but let's just say it was MORE than enough to kick me into gear.

So here I am today - at 45 and unfiltered - and ready to get started. I'm not planning on following any particular diet or food plan. I'm old enough to know what really works is a sensible diet with more protein, less fats and sugars, and, of course, a healthy dose of exercise at least 3 times per week.
Given it's New Year's Eve I can't promise the food side of things will get started tonight but I did venture out to the gym this morning for my second Body Pump class in 3 days. At the age of 45, only hitting up the treadmill sadly just doesn't cut it anymore when it comes to weight loss so I'm adding some light weights training to the weekly mix.
I'm planning to update this blog as regularly as I can with my progress (including photos) and any helpful hints and tips I come across along the way. I'm not expecting it to be all plain sailing but I hope being accountable to myself in this way might help me through when things aren't going to plan. It's also my hope that this might serve as a motivation for other women who want to make a transformation too.
Wish me luck 😬
